Labs and services
At Sofia Tech Labs, you have access to 11 laboratories in various scientific fields – from biotechnology and bioinformatics to cybersecurity, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence. With their support and the available tools and equipment, you will be able to develop and validate new products and services, or refine and test those already created.
In vitro Laboratory for the Study of Biological Activity and Toxicity
The laboratory is equipped with modern specialized instruments and equipment in the fields of cell biology, DNA analysis, and microbiology.
In addition, ecotoxicological studies, experiments with plant cultures, and pathomorphological analyses on human and animal cell lines are carried out.
Pharmaceuticals & Cosmetic Forms
The laboratory develops and analyzes pharmaceutical forms, dietary supplements, and cosmetic products, performing comprehensive tests for biopharmaceutical and physicochemical characterization.
The team of experienced professionals works with modern equipment, combining innovative approaches with established regulatory frameworks to ensure reliable and high-quality results.
Extractions, Synthesis & Analysis
The laboratory is equipped with modern instrumentation and has extensive experience in the preparation and analysis of plant extracts and biologically active compounds. Our activities include product standardization of medicinal plants, development and validation of analytical methods, chemical profiling, and physicochemical characterization of essential and base oils. The services offered are aimed at quality control of products for the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries.
BioInformatics
The laboratory develops innovative solutions in the fields of bioinformatics, bioautomation, and bioengineering, advancing the latest areas in biotechnology, synthetic and systems biology, biomedical instrumentation, and biological data analysis.
3D Creative Lab
The creative laboratory in our research complex greatly facilitates the process of developing functional physical prototypes, thereby significantly reducing the time required to turn an idea into a real market-ready product.
Intelligent Communication Infrastructures
The main focus of this laboratory is conducting tests and trials of specific products and systems in the railway transport sector (ERTMS), as well as research in the fields of 5G communications, LoRaWAN, IoT, and M2M.
Artificial Intelligence
The laboratory specializes in robotic systems, microcontrollers, and applications of artificial intelligence in industry. It focuses on creating virtual and physical prototypes for robotics and automation, developing specialized devices for neuromarketing, autonomous mobile robotic systems, drones, and intelligent systems.
MINOLab (Micro Nano Laboratory)
The laboratory specializes in research and development in micro- and nanoelectronics, with a primary focus on diagnostics, analysis, design, and prototyping of integrated circuits and electronic devices. It provides high-tech solutions for engineering challenges and is particularly skilled in identifying and characterizing defects in electronic components and systems in areas such as automotive and industrial electronics, MEMS, and biomedical applications.
Cybersecurity
The laboratory is a leading research and applied science center in the fields of cybersecurity and the protection of critical infrastructure, digital services, the digital industry, and the information society. It actively develops national capabilities in cyber resilience, studies digital dependency and cyber vulnerabilities, models complex cyber-physical systems for threat detection, and participates in the development and implementation of cybersecurity standards and methodologies, including those applicable to systems using artificial intelligence.
Virtual & Augmented Reality
The primary activity of the laboratory is the development, application, and dissemination of virtual and augmented reality (XR), along with related innovative technologies, methods, tools, and equipment.
The laboratory team is among the pioneers of XR technologies in Bulgaria and possesses extensive experience in both research and applied national and international projects across a wide range of fields, including cultural heritage, architecture and construction, art, engineering design and prototyping, education and training, gaming, medicine, marketing, and more
High-Performance Computing (HPC)
The laboratory is equipped with a homogeneous Tier-2 high-performance computing (HPC) cluster based on Fujitsu Primergy RX2530 M1 servers, running specialized software applications. The lab’s local network also includes fast hybrid (CPU & GPU) workstations. Additionally, it has specialized equipment for testing the operational status of electronic boards and for temperature control of electronic components.
The laboratory team has expertise in HPC+ technologies and their applications in natural sciences, mathematics, engineering, medicine, and economics, and provides training for access to petascale supercomputers within the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking.
